Maiden voyage...

So this is my first post from my iPad. I hope it works.

I have been reflecting about many things today after our talks. The power of positive thinking, or negative.  Time to look on the bright side. So here goes the bright stuff,

I know the truth! What more could I ask for?
I have true friends that make me feel loved.
The gift of gab...it's a gift right? I feel like I have forgotten this recently.
Family...ugh, there is always hope as long as we are alive, we are all very alive! Thank goodness!!
Time.....need to step this up! I will do better.

Enough, good things to be positive about, nice that I know what I should work on......

bummer!!

Really been a bad few weeks.  The furnace in the new house went out.  Can't be fixed, need to just get a new one.  The old house has not shown once, how on earth can anyone see how adorable it is if no one comes? Now we got home from a friends and the septic alarm is blaring. Really stuff is just supposed to go in there and I am not supposed to know what happens from there!
We had a great lesson today on endurance....good thing.  Going to need to put every word of it into practice. Tomorrow looks worse because, Todd told me no shower with the septic out.  Boo hoo!
At least we have coffee and creamer. One more good thing, with all the rain no one will know if it is the weather or a bad hair day.  Umph...........

What I've been doing

We have been working on the house. It is listed and not one person has come to see it. I realize I do not have the patience of job...i have also realized we should have lived like this the whole time. Everything done is great. We have also made five gallons of cider. The apples were beautiful. Oh fall. Wish I loved the rain and gray days. Spring will come again is my new mantra. Hope there is a spring in your step where ever you are!

Sunday, Sunday.....

Can you believe it's Sunday?  Wow does the weekend speed by.  Really, it has been a great weekend. Helped a friend, went to a quilt show...shopped and attended a wonderful meeting.  Full and fabulous.....but WAY to fast.  Next weekend I get to sew with the girls all day.  Can't wait for stitching at Hazen's! The sweet things in life always revolve around friends and family.  Thanks my friends for making my life SO rich!

Just a few quilts from the show.  Of course a winner dog for your viewing pleasure!!

Paint, paint, paint...

When life gets really messy....go to a quilt show??  OK that is just what I am hoping for.
Todd has been working really hard.  Me, not so much....but I have been living in a really big mess.
It is hard for me not to be really grumpy when it is so messy at home.
There is a light at the end of our dusty, grimy tunnel. The carpet should get laid this week and almost all of the painting is done.  We can get the house staged and ready for the realtor to come back.  Bring on the realtors viewing!  I SO hope it sells at super speed.

Demo done!

Well you can see the mess we have. Demo is done and the dry wall patches have started. I will post pictures when this gets put back together. I forgot how big the house was before the apartment. I have been decorating the new house in my dreams. Pictures of that to come too.

Moving on

I have loved this house.  It has changed a lot since we moved in.  Thinking about that, my family has changed a lot since we moved in.  Drew was in the fourth grade and Sara was in 7th.  I actually enjoy change.  We are putting the house on the market.  The Realtor is coming Friday.  The new house is not ready to move in and this one is not ready to be on the market.  We have loads of work to do. I love the process...paint, counter tops.... the whole thing.  The only thing I will miss is the fish & the neighbors.  I hope we can dig a new pond and come get a few of them (the swimmers) from the new owner.  Simplifying will be the goal but in a lovely way.

Bliss

OK 29 years of wedded bliss...blisters?  No, no...bliss! All morning I just can't shake how fast 29 years with Mr. Wonderful have gone. I always heard older people talking about how fast time goes and now, I believe them.  The more I think about all the things we've done and seen the only thing I would change is a few (don't say it) of the houses (well some where more like shacks). We have lived in like 19 in those 29 years. Yep lots of years of stability, hehe.  He always goes along with my schemes.  Thank goodness for him.  Guess it doesn't matter where you live, just who you live with.  That's the one thing 29 years can't change, I would do it all over again! Definitely  not the same colors or style...lets face it times have changed, but with the same cute man!

Quick progress

OK for me this is going quick.  The new pieces aren't sewn down yet but half prepped.  I'm on a mission today for starch and a paint brush....then the finishing touches of prep can be done. What a lovely morning. The sun is out and the sky is even blue! What a beautiful Monday morning.

Show post legally!

So...this is my big purchase.  I watched an applique queen and loved her techniques so I bought her stuff.  The picture of Jane Candace and I is SO not my favorite. I should put it on my fridge so I stop eating!

Show!

Got to go to a quilt show yesterday with a few of the girls.  Wow did I have a great time.  Great conversation on the drive back and forth. Then great quilts to ooh and aah over.  Really makes me want to  go out with Jane, and sew more.  Hmm if the TV didn't work I would get scads more done. Something to ponder.....For now, meeting with a new Bible Study and then??

Civil war

My civil war stash is growing. You see...I sew with a group of friends and we have secret pals.  Mine gave me this great bundle.  They must know me well. Can't wait to see them sewn into bow ties. Picture to follow.....

Yep and again

That's the room. Three posts but...what can I say.  I have enough room to put another table for a friends machine too. Wanna come sew?

Sewing room too....

My new sewing room

I guess I can only load one picture at a time.  Seems crazy. I love my new sewing space.  I meant to show all walls but maybe in three different posts.

Blogger! Not really my friend

OK so this Blogger thing sometime eludes me.  Just when I think I get it...NOPE.  Trying to download google+ so I can get pictures off my phone.  We will see how it goes.  Hmmm don't hold your breath for pictures.  I also can't figure out how to get the blogs I read on my page.  grrr oh to be a young geek that gets it all.  No comments on the geek part.

With the Erpinbach's and Robinson's

Todd and I Saturday at the convention.

Wow...it's already July!?! Time flies.  The weather has turned beautiful.  We have been busy, a convention, baby shower and circuit overseer.  The convention was "safeguard your heart" and was wonderful.  I think I get to sew Monday with Candace so I will hope to post a picture when I get home.  This is rambling I know but.....that's how life has been recently. Wish my finger had some stitching blistters......it will again soon.  Until then.

Hanging out....

So Blake and I are really enjoying the morning. Stitching for me, napping for Blake. The good life. 12 more "egg flowers" to go!

Fisherman's wives unite!

OK I gotta say I love fish....just get that out first.  Mr. wonderful loves to fish.  Enough said? I don't think so.  My manly man can catch a great tasting fish but how come there are scales on my couch, on the outside of the fridge....everywhere????  Fish should be cleaned somewhere other than my home!!  Speaking of that maybe Mr Wonderful should be cleaned somewhere else too! Definitely on his way home. I want him to come home, I even love the fish but the shrink wrap at the market has no scales.... Just saying.  So fisherman's wives unite.  Let's get the boat launch to put in a fish cleaning and wrapping station.  Who's with me?

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

Well it is June 20th......the sun is shining and it almost looks like summer.  I have been working on my feathered star quilt.  I have 15 "egg flowers" left and am so excited to have it done and start a new project.  I will send a picture from my phone so I can see my progress.

Sara has her keys and has started working on her new house.  It is a wreck now, but promises to be adorable with Todd's help. Pictures of that from my phone too.

Happy stitching.

It's just little. To learn to hand quilt with.  We will see. I hope marge will be glad she gave me the frame. I also hope I will use it enough to justify the room in my dinning room.

The quilt I really want to load. Want to cross hatch the middle and feather the boarders.

Mid set-up

Really....this is the before. I was such a pest, no helping. Just picture taking.

So excited!!! My friend Marge just gave me a hand quilting frame and I am over the moon excited.....Mr Wonderful is putting it together now.  Pictures to follow. (sore fingers too, I think)

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Wow, can't believe May is all but over.  The apple tree will soon have fruit on it.  Just wish the summer would slow to a crawl.  My goal for the summer is to sew and spend time with friends as much as possible.  Trying to get my progressive quilt done and to the quilter before the fair.  I have never entered anything in the fair, but I think this year I will.
Happy sewing...

Hazen's anniversary

I forgot this picture. It was really tardy for their anniversary but better late than never. The whole group worked on this one. I love it and hope Hazen does too.

OK, so I want to use this site to save pictures of my quilts.....here goes, not sure why the pictures loaded before my text.  Oh well.
The 1st quilt is tiny, a doll quilt just for fun.

The 2nd quilt was a mystery led by my friend Marge.  It was loads of fun!

The 3rd quilt is another mystery led by another friend Candace.  It was lots of work...we seemed to make segments for ever.  It is one of my favorites!

The 4th one is Dizzy Geese.  I started this at a retreat, the teacher was terrible! Thank goodness the other girls in the class were great quilters.  Funny who you learn things from.

The 5th quilt is Todd's aka Mr Wonderful!  He loves the outdoors and is a mighty hunter.  This quilt has two layers of batting and I don't love it but when it's cold outside it is the first to get drug out.

The next one is a hunters star done on a weekend with the girls.

The 6th one is one of my first quilts.  Done for Sara.

The 7th also is Sara's.  She loves Asian things so this was my attempt at that.

The 8th was a block exchange......my groups last one.  I will be giving this to the next baby that comes along.

Black is Drew's favorite color (or it was when he was younger)  It is not bound yet. This one also has two layers of batting.  Drew wanted it to be random, it's my idea of random...not Drew's!  I learned I don't love solid black.

The next one is mine....happy, happy me!  It's not bound yet either.  I love it.  My new favorite thing is pieced with applique.

The last one is another baby quilt to have ready.  I like to do that so I will not have to feel rushed but have something for a gift.

Maybe next time I post pictures I will figure out how to put the text with each picture.......grrrr.

Happy quilting,
Deanna
